German Grammar
German Verbs in Context
Verb-centred patterns that carry a lot of everyday German — modals, passive, and the small structural moves real speakers make constantly.
Textbook German Verbs in Context
The standard forms taught in German courses worldwide — illustrated with real clips from native speakers, not invented examples.
Modal Verbs
Modal verb (können / müssen / wollen / sollen / dürfen / mögen) + main verb in the infinitive
Modal verbs are everywhere in real German: obligation, permission, ability, intention. The main verb drops to the end of the clause.
Passive Voice with werden
werden + past participle
The dynamic passive (Vorgangspassiv) uses werden plus a past participle to describe something being done. Distinct from the stative passive with sein.
