British English

Real videos of British people talking, from London and other places. Real words and real sounds.

British English has many different accents across the UK. What most people think of as British is the accent you hear on the news. About 60 million people speak it in the UK. But the UK is small, and accents change a lot: London, Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle, and Birmingham all sound different. British people often do not say the r at the end of words, like in car or hard. The letter a sounds different too, like in bath and grass. Some accents drop the t in the middle of a word: butter becomes bu'er. This can make words look different from how they sound. When you are ready, try listening to other British accents too.

The Reelang English watch page is a page of short videos, like TikTok. The videos are from real people who speak English. Each video has a level and a speed, and we show the accent. It learns how you watch and keeps showing videos at your level.
