Filipino listening speed
120-160 words a minute
Medium speed Filipino
Real Filipino at normal Manila speed. It mixes Tagalog, English, and some Spanish words.
Normal-speed Filipino is Taglish, all the time. People in Manila mix Tagalog and English at the same time, even in the same word. For example: kumain ka na ba? (did you eat yet?) Ay sorry, naka-meeting ako. (Sorry, I'm in a meeting.) Some words come from Spanish, like mesa (table), kuwarto (room), sapatos (shoes), and kusina (kitchen). These words sit next to Tagalog words. Words still change to show who does what, but they get shorter in fast talk. For example, huwag becomes wag, and hindi becomes di. The words po and opo are still used by people of all ages. Watch videos from Manila, like food videos and talks, to hear real Taglish. Pick people who talk at the same speed each time. The English mixed in is part of the language, not a mistake.
Reelang’s Filipino video feed is a TikTok-style feed of real videos from native Filipino speakers, graded by level and speaking speed and tagged by accent. It learns from how you watch and keeps serving clips at your level.
