Slow speed Malay

Real Malay, spoken slowly. Easy to hear each word and how sentences fit together.

Slow Malay helps you hear how the language works. Malay action words do not change for time. Instead, words like kelmarin (yesterday) and esok (tomorrow) tell you the time, and the action word stays the same. Malay repeats words to show more than one, or to make something stronger: anak (child) becomes anak-anak (children), and jalan (road) becomes jalan-jalan (a walk). Small word parts (like meN-, ber-, di-, -kan) go on the front or end of an action word to change its meaning. But the sentence order stays simple, just like English: subject, action, then object. There are no different words for he and she; dia means both. Videos for people just starting say every part of the word well. Watch a video once for the main word, then again to hear the small parts added to it.
