Fast speed Malay
Real Malay talk shows and news at full speed, where people add English words and talk very fast.
Fast Malay has many things at once: English words added in, new words all the time, and a very fast speed. Talk shows and news are quick, with people talking over each other. People use school Malay and real-life Malay in the same sentence. New words come and go fast too. Young people in Kuala Lumpur often change to English, even in easy sentences. You will also hear Malay from Indonesia, Brunei, and Singapore. Watch a video once. Try to hear which language the person is using at each moment. Then watch small parts again. Slow the video down if you can. Write down words you did not understand.
