Medium speed Malay

Real Malay at normal speed. People mix in small words (lah, kan, kah, meh) and switch to English often. This mix is called Manglish.

Natural Malay often mixes with English right away. People in Malaysia switch between Malay and English in the same sentence, and it feels natural, not strange. Small words like lah, kan, kah, and meh do a lot of work. Kan asks right at the end of a question. Lah makes a sentence softer or stronger. Repeating a word still shows more than one, or makes something stronger. The word for I changes too: aku is for close friends, saya works for everyone else. Videos from Kuala Lumpur, food videos, and interviews all mix Malay and English this way. Pick videos that keep the same speed, and let your ear get used to this Malaysian style.
