Medium speed Swedish

Real Swedish at normal talking speed. Long words stick together, and the sj-sound changes between areas.

At normal speed, long words show up a lot: words like sjukhuspersonal, arbetsmarknadsdepartementet, and bostadsrättsförening. Your ear must learn to hear them as one word, not many small parts. The sj-sound (sjuk, skön, skjuta) also changes by area. A person from Stockholm, Göteborg, or Skåne can sound quite different. In easy talk, people often drop the r at the end of action words (jag åke instead of åker), and use small extra words like ju, väl, alltså, and typ. Daily videos, interviews, and food videos are good practice, since you can also see what is happening. This speed is close to the listening tests in Swedex B1/B2 and TISUS, so practice here also helps with those tests.
