A2 Dutch listening practice · Dutch · Curated for beginners
Joost Klein is a Dutch musician, rapper, and visual artist from Leeuwarden who became globally famous after his 2024 Eurovision Song Contest entry “Europapa”, a hyper-fast Dutch-language rave anthem about open European borders. He was disqualified from the final under disputed circumstances on the morning of the show, which made him a folk hero in the Netherlands and turned the song into a viral hit anyway. “Europapa” peaked at #1 in nine European countries and over 200 million Spotify streams. Joost is also a Friese visual artist and former YouTuber.
In this clip, news reports the start of his world tour: “Joost Klein gaf de eerste show van zijn wereldtour in Argentinië. Van Mexico tot Engeland en van Zweden tot Finland.”
