Smart Subtitles for Malay
Live for everyone, right now.
Watching a Malay video with Smart Subtitles on, the words worth learning first stand out. An underline shows how common each word is, and a tap tells you what it means in that exact sentence and how high it ranks among the most common words in Malay. Bukunya counts as buku and kawan-kawan as kawan, but makanan (food) keeps its own place apart from makan (eat), because you learn them as two words.
Malay on Reelang sounds the way people really talk: tak, nak, cakap, with English mixed in. We tried several word lists to rank against, and the ones built from news and Wikipedia kept marking everyday words as rare. The list that matched our videos best is the one that includes how people write online, so that's the one behind the underlines.
