Learn Cantonese from real videos
Live for everyone, right now.
Want to learn Cantonese the way people actually speak it in Hong Kong? Browse Cantonese videos by level, topic and accent, or drop straight into your feed and start watching. Hong Kong Cantonese and the wider standard are tagged separately, so you can stay with one accent or mix them, and the subtitles are written the way the words are said.
Cantonese is written one way and spoken another, which makes it unusually hard to train your ear on video. Most Cantonese videos carry subtitles in Standard Written Chinese, which reads like Mandarin: the screen says 的 and 是 while the speaker says 嘅 and 係, so you read one language and hear another. We found that pattern on nearly every channel we looked at, so before adding Cantonese we went looking for a way to write down what was really said, including the English words Hong Kong speakers mix into their sentences.
