Modif is the spoken short form of Indonesian modifikasi (a Dutch-via-Latin loan). On the street it’s a verb (ngemodif), a noun (hasil modif) and a culture all at once: bike club nights, Vespa rallies, motorbike-customisation YouTubers. The full modifikasi survives in headlines and ads; everyday talk and TikTok captions almost always shorten it to modif.
In this Wakotu kids' clip, three friends compete to modif their bicycles for a corner-store ride: stickers, ribbons, a horn, a wahyu pet bottle on the handlebars. The framing assumes Indonesian audiences already understand modif as a kid culture, the way pimp my ride once worked for early-2000s American teens.
