Sushi cake facile pour les soirs de flemme
A2 French listening practice · French · Curated for beginners
What does “j’ai la flemme” mean in French?
La flemme is the feeling of not being able to face doing something: j’ai la flemme de cuisiner is “I can’t be bothered to cook.” It is not a verdict on your character — it is a mood people admit to cheerfully, several times a week. Add de plus an infinitive for whatever you are dodging, or leave it bare: j’ai la flemme, tout simplement.
The judgement lives in the derived words, not the noun: un flemmard / une flemmarde is someone lazy by nature, and flemmarder is to laze about. Saying j’ai la flemme commits you to nothing beyond this evening.
