Andean Spanish (Español andino)

Andean Spanish is spoken across the highlands of Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, and parts of Colombia and northwest Argentina. The region has a long history of contact with Quechua and Aymara, and both show up in the Spanish of the Andes: in vocabulary, in some grammatical patterns, and in the prosody. Pace tends to be more deliberate than Caribbean Spanish, consonants are more consistently articulated than in fast Caribbean speech, and intonation has its own recognizable shape.
