Caribbean Spanish covers the varieties spoken across Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, and parts of coastal Venezuela, Colombia, Panama, and Mexico. It is the branch of Spanish most known for speed and for reducing consonants: final s often aspirates into an h or disappears altogether, and r at the end of a syllable can soften or swap toward l in some regions.
