What does “megcsal” mean in Hungarian?
Megcsal means to cheat on a romantic partner — to be unfaithful. It’s built from csal, the general verb “to cheat, deceive, defraud”, plus the perfective prefix meg-. While csal on its own covers cheating at cards or on a test, the prefixed megcsal has settled into the specific sense of betraying a partner: megcsalja a barátját is “she cheats on her boyfriend”. Same root, but the lexicalised form carries a very different sting.

The grammar is transitive — you megcsal someone — so megcsal engem is “cheats on me”.
