What does “lounge” mean in a British house?

In British English, the lounge is the main room in a home where you sit and relax. It is the room with the sofa and the TV. Many people also call it the “living room” or the “sitting room”. They mean the same room. When guests come, you take them into the lounge and ask them to sit down.

In the clip the host opens the door for the neighbours and “shows them into the lounge”, then they all sit down for tea. In a hotel or an airport, lounge can also mean a comfy waiting area — but in a British home it is the living room.
