What does “نجدد شبابنا” mean in Arabic?

نجدد شبابنا (nujaddid shabaabna)
Arabic generational bonding phrase
“we’re reliving our youth” — said when something recaptures the feeling of being young

نجدد شبابنا (nujaddid shabaabna) means “we are renewing our youth” — an Arabic phrase used when an experience brings back the energy and spirit of younger days. The verb نجدد comes from the root ج-د-د (j-d-d, “new”), and the doubled middle letter marks it as a Form II verb, which in Arabic adds the sense of doing something thoroughly or making something newly so. شبابنا simply means “our youth.” Together the phrase is a warm, slightly nostalgic cheer.

In the clip, a son buys a loud, thrilling car. His father initially wants it returned — too noisy, too much trouble with the neighbours — but after a test drive he is completely won over: “يا أبوي هاي السيارة طيارة مش سيارة” (“Dad, this car is a rocket, not just a car”). The son seals the moment with “نجدد شبابنا يا أبويا” — we are reliving our youth, dad — and the father’s resistance melts. The Form II pattern فعّل (faʕʕala) is one of Arabic’s most productive: جدّد (“to renew”), درّس (“to teach”), صوّر (“to photograph”). Spotting the doubled middle letter is the shortcut to reading it wherever it appears.
