What does “tails” mean on a coin?

When you flip a coin, it lands on one of two sides. One side is heads: the side with a face on it. The other side is tails. There is no animal tail on it. We just call it tails because it is the other side, not heads. People say “heads or tails?” to choose between two things in a fair way.

In the clip a man flips a coin and says, “It might land on heads or it might land on tails.” You will hear “heads or tails?” when two people pick who goes first, or who wins. It is a simple, fair way to choose.
