What is a “głęboki talerz” in Polish?
In a Polish home, soup isn’t served in a bowl — it arrives on a głęboki talerz, literally a “deep plate.” Since the classic Polish dinner (obiad) opens with soup almost every day, the deep plate is a fixture of the table: talerz głęboki na zupę, as the clip puts it, sits alongside the duży talerz for the main course and the mały talerzyk for snacks.
The kitchen-cupboard tour is a size ladder in itself: miska (bowl) shrinks to miseczka (small bowl), talerz (plate) to talerzyk (little plate).
