💡 Did you know?

What does “todinho” mean in Brazilian Portuguese?

todinho
Brazilian intensifier
“every last bit of it” — a diminutive that makes the word bigger, not smaller

Portuguese diminutives usually shrink or sweeten a word. Todinho does the opposite: todo means “all,” and the -inho ending pushes it to “all of it, every last bit.” Limpe todinho is “clean it up completely.” Here the suffix is an intensifier rather than a shrinker — the same move behind igualzinho (“exactly the same”), agorinha (“right this minute”) and pertinho (“really close”).

It agrees like any adjective — todinha, todinhos, todinhas — and lives naturally with commands and finished results: comeu todinho, molhou a blusa todinha. One Brazilian trap: Toddynho, spelled with a y, is a famous carton of chocolate milk, and children cheerfully use both in the same sentence. In the clip the praise runs isso mesmo, limpe todinho over a toddler wiping the floor.
