What does “telaraña” mean in Spanish?
Telaraña means “spider web.” The fun part for beginners is that it is two everyday words stuck together: tela (“cloth, fabric”) plus araña (“spider”). So a spider web is literally a “spider cloth.” Once you see the two halves, the word is easy to remember, and you also pick up two useful nouns at the same time: tela and araña.
You can also say it in full as tela de araña (“cloth of spider”), which means the same thing. In the tongue-twister a piraña (“piranha”) se baña (“bathes”) en una telaraña — silly, but it drills the ñ sound and the word at once.
