What does “fregona” mean in Spanish?
La fregona is the Spanish (Spain) word for a mop. The clip is from Spain and uses fregar el suelo... usando un cubo y una fregona (“mop the floor... using a bucket and a mop”). If you learned Spanish in Latin America, you may know the same tool as el trapeador, and the verb trapear instead of fregar. So the floor cleaning vocabulary changes a lot by region, even though everyone means the same job.
The clip is a small map of Spanish chore words: quitar el polvo (“dust”), un plumero (“a feather duster”), una bayeta (“a cloth”), pasar la aspiradora (“vacuum”), barrer con una escoba (“sweep with a broom”). In Argentina you might even hear lampazo for the mop.
