💡 Did you know?
pegar con
Spanish style verb
“to go with, to match” (colors, clothes)

Ask whether a cap goes with an outfit and Spanish says pega con: no pega con mi outfit means “it doesn’t match my outfit.” Pegar usually means to hit or to stick, but with con it becomes a verdict on style: do these things look right together? It works for colors, clothes, furniture, even songs at a party.

The speaker likes her brown cap but decides not to bring it to the beach because no pega with her black and brown look. The negative is the more common use: eso no pega ni con cola (“that doesn’t go with anything,” literally “not even with glue”). The positive is pega mucho con tus ojos, “it goes really well with your eyes.”
