💡 Did you know?
¿qué más?
Colombian greeting
a friendly “what’s up?” / “how are you?” — not the literal “what else?”

Word for word, ¿qué más? means “what else?” — but in Colombia it is a warm, everyday greeting that means “what’s up?” or “how are you?” You can answer it just like ¿cómo estás?, for example muy bien, ¿y tú? (“very good, and you?”). It works in person, on the phone, or by text.

The clip stacks many casual greetings, and ¿qué más? keeps coming back. Add pues on the end — ¿qué más pues? — and you sound paisa, the way people speak around Medellín. Other Colombian openers in the clip include ¿bien o no? and ¿qué hubo?, but ¿qué más? is the one to keep.
