Sind Deutsche gut darin, Nein zu sagen?

What does “meine Auffassung” mean in German?
Asked if Germans are good at saying no, one person answers: “Lieber nein als ja, wäre meine Auffassung.” They are not just blurting out a feeling — Auffassung marks it as their considered position. It sounds a little more thoughtful and formal than the everyday Meinung. So this is someone calmly stating where they stand: better to say no than yes, that is how they see it.
In the clip: “Lieber nein als ja, wäre meine Auffassung.” — “Better no than yes, that would be my view.” Auffassung is your take or understanding of something, usually a reasoned one. Use it when you want to sound a bit more careful than the everyday word Meinung. - “Das ist meine Auffassung.” — “That’s my view.” - “Nach meiner Auffassung war das ein Fehler.” — “The way I see it, that was a mistake.” - “Da haben wir unterschiedliche Auffassungen.” — “We see that differently.” You will often hear it in discussions and debates, where someone wants to lay out a thought-through standpoint rather than a quick gut reaction.
