💡 Did you know?

What does “korifi” mean in Greek?

κορυφή
noun · Greek
“peak, summit, top”

Christina Flampouri, the first Greek woman to climb the Seven Summits, describes the moment it was complete: «όταν έφτασα στην κορυφή» (“when I reached the summit”). Κορυφή means “peak, summit, top,” whether a mountain, a list, or a career. She reached the highest κορυφή on every continent, finishing on Antarctica’s Vinson.

The word climbs into daily Greek too: “στην κορυφή” (“at the top”), a “συνάντηση κορυφής” (a summit meeting), “κορυφαίος” (“top-ranking, leading”). From the literal peak of Everest to the figurative top of your game, κορυφή marks the highest point. Fitting for a record-setting climber.
