What does “গর্জন করা” mean in Bengali?
গর্জন is a roar, rumble or thunderclap, and গর্জন করা means “to roar.” It names a literal sound — a lion, a storm, the sea — but Bengali reaches for it just as often figuratively, for a person shouting in anger. In this clip’s meditation on quiet strength, wind howls and trees shake around a mountain in a storm, yet the mountain itself makes no গর্জন at all — its power lies in staying silent through the noise.
The clip turns the word into its own lesson: real strength, it argues, doesn’t need to গর্জন করা to prove itself — “শক্তিমানকে প্রতিটা ঝড়ের বিরুদ্ধে গর্জন করতে হয় না,” “the strong don’t have to roar against every storm.” That figurative sense — roaring to assert yourself, not literally making noise — is worth knowing beyond this clip: Bengali even stretches it to হাসিতে গর্জন করা, “to roar with laughter,” and ক্রোধে গর্জন করা, “to roar in anger.”
