Flere kvinder vælger at blive tømrere

What does “tømrer” mean in Danish?
“Picture a carpenter. Did you picture a man?” This clip introduces tømrer (carpenter) and the women now choosing the trade: «Jeg vil gerne være tømrer» (“I want to be a carpenter”). A tømrer frames buildings and roofs in wood, one of Denmark’s classic håndværker (skilled-trade) jobs, learned through an erhvervsuddannelse, a vocational apprenticeship.
Danish proudly separates its trades: a tømrer (carpenter) is not a snedker (joiner) or a murer (bricklayer). The clip’s hook is that most tømrere are still men, and that’s changing. For learners it’s a tidy window into how Denmark talks about work and apprenticeships.
