Tiny House Tour With Maddie
A2 English listening practice · American English · Curated for beginners
What is a “composting toilet”?
A composting toilet is a waterless toilet that breaks down human waste into compost using sawdust, peat moss, or coconut fiber. Americans use them in tiny houses, off-grid cabins, RVs, and remote campsites where running water and a sewer line aren’t available. The fixture became a tiny-house signature after HGTV launched Tiny House Hunters in 2014, and now any American home tour smaller than 400 square feet usually includes one.
In this clip, Maddie walks through her tiny home and points out her “two-in-one washer-dryer, our composting toilet, and our queen-size bed up in the bedroom loft.” The casual mention shows how the composting toilet has become a normal part of the tiny-house identity.
