What does 'moje krevní skupina' mean in Czech?
Moje krevní skupina literally means 'my blood type,' but Czechs use it figuratively. People, music, films, anything that just clicks for you. Negated, to není moje krevní skupina, it’s a soft way to say 'not really my crowd' or 'not my thing' without flat-out rejecting whatever you’re talking about.
Here Míša uses it to explain why she left New Zealand after two years. Locals were polite, chatty, easygoing on the surface, but « pod povrchem to není úplně moje krevní skupina » (underneath, they’re not quite my kind of people). Czechs reach for the phrase to draw that line between fine and familiar.
