What is the Dutch series “Máxima” about?
Máxima is the 2024 Dutch dramatic series on Videoland and SBS6 about the life of Queen Máxima Zorreguieta, the Argentine economist who became the most popular royal in the Netherlands. Six episodes cover her Buenos Aires childhood, the controversies around her father’s role under the Argentine military government, her marriage to then-Prince Willem-Alexander, and her transition into the Dutch monarchy. The show was Videoland’s biggest 2024 release. Casting the three princess roles (Amalia, Alexia, Ariane) for the modern-day scenes was a national news beat.
