This raw monologue is about the ache of looking back: «نذارین حسرت چیزی به دلتون بمونه» (“don’t let the regret of anything stay in your heart”). حسرت (hasrat) is not ordinary regret. It’s the deep, wistful longing for a life you didn’t live, the loves you didn’t chase, the dreams you let slip.
The speaker pictures sitting before a mirror at fifty, watching yourself “melt away” with nothing left to do about it. Hasrat is one of the great themes of Persian poetry and song, the sigh beneath a thousand ghazals. Naming it is the first step to not dying with it.
