What is “Liha Smikhu” in Ukrainian comedy?
Ліга сміху (Liha Smikhu) is one of the most-watched stand-up and sketch competition shows in Ukraine, broadcast on 1+1 since 2016. Teams of comedians from cities across the country face off with prepared sketches, and a panel of guest judges scores them each round. The show launched dozens of Ukrainian comedy careers and helped build a busy stand-up touring circuit in Kyiv, Lviv, and Odesa. It is also the format that turned regional comedy collectives into household names, with several alumni headlining sold-out theater tours and Ukrainian-language specials.
