What is “NEMO Science Museum” in Amsterdam?
NEMO Science Museum is the Netherlands' largest hands-on science museum, sitting on a green-copper-roofed building beside Amsterdam’s Oosterdok. The 1997 building was designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano, the same designer behind the Centre Pompidou and London’s Shard. The museum’s rooftop is one of Amsterdam’s most-visited free vantage points. Inside, kids run kinetic experiments, build robots, freeze water, and watch chemistry demos. Het Klokhuis runs an annual Vragendag there: kids submit science questions in advance, and the Klokhuis crew matches them with practising Dutch scientists for one-on-one answers.
