What does “mausta rohkeasti” mean in Finnish?
A cook boils his whole philosophy down to two words: «mausta rohkeasti» (“season boldly”). The verb maustaa means “to season or spice,” the imperative mausta tells you to do it, and rohkeasti (“bravely”) says don’t be shy about it.
His staples are reassuringly simple: puhdas merisuola (clean sea salt), mustapippuri myllystä (black pepper from the grinder), a squeeze of happo (acid), and yrtit (herbs).
