What does “comodidades” mean in Spanish?
A salesman is trying to sell a cowboy a washing machine and a fridge. The cowboy says he does not need them. The salesman does not argue — he just says: “Son comodidades.” They are not bare necessities, but they make life easier. When you hear “comodidades,” think of everyday conveniences: appliances and gadgets that save you work and time, nice to have but not things you cannot live without.
In the clip the salesman says: “Son comodidades.” — “They’re conveniences.” He’s describing the appliances as nice-to-have comforts, not needs. “Comodidad” (singular) is the base word; “comodidades” is more than one. A few ways you’ll hear it: - “El hotel tiene todas las comodidades.” — The hotel has every comfort/amenity. - “Vivo con muchas comodidades.” — I live with lots of conveniences (an easy, comfortable life). - “Es una comodidad tener lavadora.” — Having a washing machine is a real convenience. Tip: it comes from “cómodo” (comfortable). The same word can mean a physical comfort (a soft chair) or a handy convenience (a machine that does the work for you).
